Supporting cervical screening self-collection awareness in multicultural communities

The ACPCC is partnering with Federation of Ethnic Communities’ Councils of Australia (FECCA) to support the latest iteration of the Own It! Campaign. Through this project, ACPCC is providing tailored train-the-trainer education to approximately 20 multicultural community organisations, helping community leaders build confidence to educate their networks about cervical screening and self-collection.

Through this partnership, ACPCC is also offering clinical governance advice for self-collection pop-up clinics, technical review of community-developed resources, and providing expert support for cervical screening health promotion events to ensure information is accurate, consistent, and aligned with National Cervical Screening Program guidelines.

Additionally, the project will fund free laboratory processing of up to 450 self-collected HPV tests for people who are not currently eligible for Medicare, reducing barriers to participation in screening.

This initiative actions an important goal in our mission to eliminate cervical cancer, as it empowers Australia’s diverse multicultural communities to get screened.
