VCS Pathology provides a home-based self-collection service to referring health practitioners. This means that practitioners can support patients with home-based self-collection via telehealth in instances where clinic attendance is a challenge.
The home-based self-collection initiative
ACPCC launched the home-based Self-Collection initiative in 2020 with the intention of promoting cervical screening participation among under-screened people during the COVID-19 pandemic. This initiative is now ongoing and can be utilised by health practitioners to support patients who are due for screening and are unable to travel to the clinic, to self-collect a sample for HPV testing at home, following a telehealth consultation.
