Strategic Plan
The ACPCC Strategic Plan 2026-2030 was developed by the ACPCC Board of Directors in consultation with the Executive Team.
Over the life of the plan, we commit to leading efforts to eliminate cervical cancer in Australia and across the Indo-Pacific region. We will strengthen equitable access to prevention and screening, advance research and evidence that informs policy, deliver excellence in pathology and diagnostic services, expand our digital and public health capabilities, support broader cancer prevention initiatives, and build a sustainable organisation equipped for the future.

Mission
To achieve equitable cervical cancer elimination and strengthen population health through the development, delivery and application of world-leading expertise, services and systems in prevention, diagnostics, research and public health.
Strategic Pillars
1. Cervical Cancer Elimination Leadership
Lead and support cervical cancer elimination globally, in Australia and Victoria, by supporting evidence-based HPV vaccination, screening, treatment, surveillance, policy advice and implementation.
2. Equitable Access and Innovative Models of Care
Improve access to screening and follow-up for priority populations by advocating for innovative models of care that leverage self-collection, expand access beyond primary care, and enable workforce diversification to support cervical cancer elimination.
3. Research, Evidence and Policy Impact
Generate, translate and disseminate policy-relevant evidence through various mechanisms including Compass, the NHMRC Centre for Research Excellence in Cervical Cancer Control (C4), elimination reporting, data linkage, cancer registry analytics, and applied public health research.
4. Laboratory, Pathology, and Diagnostic Excellence
Maintain and grow the Australian HPV Reference Laboratory, providing national leadership in high-quality HPV testing, clinical validation, diagnostic innovation, laboratory strengthening, quality systems and relevant expansion into HPV-related and infectious disease testing.
Maintain excellence in Anatomical pathology by delivering high-quality cytology and histopathology reporting, providing expert clinical advice, and strengthening multidisciplinary collaboration to support cervical cancer elimination.
5. Digital Public Health and Registry Services
Scale canSCREEN and related digital systems as flexible public health services for screening, patient management, follow-up, reporting, electronic ordering, surveillance and international program support.
6. Broader Cancer Prevention and Population Health Services
Apply ACPCC’s screening, follow-up, data and service improvement capability to bowel cancer screening and other prevention programs where ACPCC can add measurable public health value.
7. Sustainable Organisation and Strategic Capability Enablers
Build a resilient, high-performing and financially sustainable organisation through strong governance, financial stewardship, workforce capability, stakeholder engagement, digital innovation, cyber security and organisational resilience.
