Max Albert is the founder of the Ik-kana Cancer Foundation in Vanuatu and a passionate cancer advocate committed to improving cancer awareness, prevention, early detection, screening, referral, and support across the country. His work places a strong focus on cervical cancer prevention and elimination through HPV vaccination, community education, screening awareness, and outreach, particularly in rural and remote communities. Under his leadership, Ik-kana has expanded its focus to include breast cancer and other cancers while promoting early detection and access to health services. Max is also working to establish Ik-kana sub-cancer centres across Vanuatu’s provinces to bring cancer information, screening guidance, referral support, and community services closer to the people. His vision is to build a stronger and more informed Vanuatu where every community has access to cancer prevention, early detection, treatment, referral, and support, working together with the Government, health professionals, communities, partners, donors, and volunteers to reduce the impact of cancer.
