A/Prof Megan Smith leads high-income country projects in the Cervical Cancer/HPV Stream at the Daffodil Centre. She is an epidemiologist and simulation modeller with extensive experience in policy evaluations for cervical cancer prevention, including screening and HPV vaccination. More than 10 specific policy decisions have been based on the findings of these evaluations, including the decisions in Australia, New Zealand and England to transition their national cervical screening programs from Pap tests to HPV testing. She also has a research interest in how these policy decisions translate into real change, including practical aspects of implementation and the impact in population subgroups. A/Prof Smith has authored over 120 publications and has sat on multiple screening program advisory groups.
