ACPCC Hosts Landmark Cervical Cancer Prevention Event at Australian Parliament House

ACPCC thanks everyone who took part in and supported our cervical screening event at Australian Parliament House on 3 March 2026. The event brought together parliamentarians, parliamentary staff, health leaders and partners to recognise Australia’s progress toward the equitable elimination of cervical cancer, and to highlight the role of self‑collected cervical screening in improving access and choice. We’re pleased to share some early indicators from the day:

• We provided over 60 consultations, with 38 people completing a self-collected test on the day.
• 78 people joined our breakfast program, which began with a Welcome to Country and included an address by The Hon Rebecca White MP.

Free self‑collected Cervical Screening Tests were available throughout the day for eligible Parliament House staff, delivered in partnership with Sexual Health and Family Planning ACT and Canberra Sexual Health. Beyond the numbers, the impact of the day was about equity. Eliminating cervical cancer is within reach for Australia — but only if every person can access timely, accurate and culturally safe screening. By holding this event in Parliament, cervical screening was brought into the heart of national decision‑making, underscoring that progress toward elimination depends on aligning policy, awareness and access.
