I am Carolynne Masakai, a nursing professional from Papua New Guinea with a Certificate in General Nursing and a Bachelor’s degree in Post-Registration Nursing. With 30 years of service in the health sector, I work to improve health service delivery, disease prevention, and community health outcomes.

I currently serve as the HPV Vaccine Project Coordinator with the Western Highlands Provincial Health Authority (WHPHA), under the Eliminating Cervical Cancer in the Western Pacific (ECCWP) initiative. Since commencing this role in June 2024, I have coordinated the delivery and monitoring of the HPV vaccination program.

My responsibilities include program planning, monitoring vaccination coverage, coordinating school and community outreach, strengthening health and education partnerships, and promoting equitable access to HPV vaccination for eligible girls aged 9–14 years. I am committed to reaching underserved populations, including out-of-school girls and girls living with disabilities.

Working with health workers, teachers, Village Health Assistants, community leaders, government agencies, and development partners, I support program delivery, data quality, and sustainability.

My professional interests include immunisation, cervical cancer prevention, and health systems strengthening. I am passionate about advancing equitable access to prevention services and contributing to Papua New Guinea’s efforts to eliminate cervical cancer as a public health problem.
