The ACPCC continues to work towards eliminating cervical cancer as a public health problem, in alignment with the World Health Organization’s goal. We work towards this achievement in collaboration with our Australian and International partners.

We are committed to supporting the success of HPV vaccination and cervical screening programs, to liberate women and people with a cervix around the world from the burden of cervical cancer.

C4: Centre of Research Excellence in Cervical Cancer Control

Funded by the National Health and Medical Research Council, C4 brings together Australia’s expert leaders in cervical cancer control in both HPV vaccination and cervical screening. C4 is made up of researchers from Cancer Council NSW, Kirby Institute at UNSW Sydney, the University of Melbourne, and ACPCC.

Previous work of C4 investigators was instrumental in Australia’s major innovations in public health and contributed to the successful delivery of HPV vaccination in girls and boys, along with the implementation of an HPV-based cervical screening program. Notably, C4 also runs Australia’s largest clinical trial, Compass, which is providing world-first evidence on the interaction between HPV vaccination and screening.

ACPCC works very closely with a number of organisations through contractual arrangements or collaborative projects. These include:

ROSE Foundation — a joint venture of University of Malaya and ACPCC to deliver Program ROSE
Australian Government Department of Health —supporting the National Cervical Screening Program, including specialist cervical screening laboratory expertise and pathology services, as well as advice on policy and program implementation, and leading the development of a National Cervical Cancer Elimination Strategy
Victorian Department of Health — supporting the National Cervical Screening Program in Victoria; supporting the Victorian Cancer Screening Framework including clinical education and Victorian breast, bowel and cervical screening data analysis and reporting; delivery of Participant Follow Up Function for Victorian bowel screening participants; supporting immunisation initiatives for vulnerable populations
